The Arita
Arita
Porcelain has a history in Japan
of 400 years – it was made
traditionally as tributes to the
Shogun and the feudal lords.
Arita was the birthplace of
Japanese porcelain having the
perfect white kaolin stone. In
the early 17th
Century Ri sam pie, the ‘father
of Arita porcelain’ discovered
this special area at the
mountain of Izumiyama. Porcelain
production at Arita flourished
during the Edo period and it was
extensively exported from
Nagasaki where it gained great
appreciation worldwide as Imari
porcelain that was revered by
the Royal courts and nobility of
the time. The high skill levels
of the Arita artisans helped the
porcelain to be traded
throughout Europe. Both the hand
made Gen-emon kiln and the
Koransha styles inherit the
tradition and soul of the
ancient Imari porcelain that has
been passed down through many
generations.
Sailor Pen
has combined their exceptional
pen making skills with the Arita
porcelain crafts to collaborate
on this very special project.
The exceptional skills of the
various craftsmen involved have
perfected the Gold/Porcelain
high technology bonding
techniques to produce the
masterpieces we see offered
today.
Fitted with
the Sailor 21K nib for writing
precision this product not only
looks and feels unique but also
writes perfectly.
Two model
ranges are available – The Gen-emon
Kiln and the Koransha series
with three pieces in each
collection.
The
landscape, flowers or
traditional artisan decoration
depicting typical Japanese
ceramic style inspires all the
designs.
The ‘Gen –emon
Kiln’ models are special hand
painted designs and produced and
‘fired’ in the famous ‘Gen –emon’
kiln
The ‘Koransha’ models are more
simple designs and
produced and ‘fired’ in the
famous ‘Koransha’ style.
